Как сделать снегоочиститель на колесах своими руками

Winter is in full swing, and even though snow can be beautiful, it can also be a major hassle when it comes to getting around. If you have a driveway or small parking area to clear, a snowplow might seem like a great investment. However, buying a professional snowplow can be expensive. Fortunately, with some tools, time, and creativity, you can make a do-it-yourself snowplow on wheels.

Here is how you can make a snowplow on wheels for your driveway:

Step 1: Gather Required Tools and Materials

To create your snowplow, you will need the following tools and materials:

Materials:

— Two 8-foot treated 1×6 boards
— Four 1/2-inch carriage bolts (x4)
— Four 1/2-inch nuts (x4)
— Two 5-inch swivel casters
— Two 5-inch rigid casters
— Sixteen 2-1/2 inch wood screws

Tools:

— Table saw or circular saw
— Drill
— 1/2-inch drill bit
— Pencil
— Measuring tape
— Socket wrench

Step 2: Cut the Treated Wood to Size

Using a table saw or circular saw, cut the two 8-foot treated 1×6 boards in half to create four 4-foot sections. You will use two of these sections to create the frame of your snowplow.

Step 3: Connect the Boards

Lay out the two boards on a level surface parallel to each other with about 20 inches of space between them. Line up the ends of the boards, so they are flush, and use a pencil to mark the pre-drilled holes in the flat metal brackets of the casters on one side of the boards. Drill four 1/2-inch holes at each mark and insert a 1/2-inch carriage bolt through each hole. Use a socket wrench to fit a nut to each bolt and tighten firmly.

Step 4: Attach the Casters

Attach the 5-inch swivel casters to the two outermost corners on the underside of the board where the drilled holes are. Make sure the wheel can rotate 360 degrees.

Fasten the two rigid casters to the ends of the board that are usually pulled along the ground. Position the casters so that they are level from front to back and from side to side.

Step 5: Attach Plow Blade

Measure the height and width of the plow blade you intend to use, then mark these measurements on the front end of your wooden frame. Pre-drill holes, then use screws to attach your plow blade to the wooden frame.

Step 6: Add Finishing Touches

Now that your snowplow on wheels is complete, it could benefit from a few finishing touches. For example, you could paint it before using it, so it blends in with your surroundings and doesn’t stick out like a sore thumb. Additionally, attaching a handle to the back of the wooden frame would make it easier to add, remove, or adjust the plow blade.

Conclusion

Making a do-it-yourself snowplow on wheels is a fantastic way to remove snow from your driveway without having to invest in a professional snowplow. Once you’ve made your snowplow, you’ll be able to clear your driveway quickly and easily, saving you time and effort. Now, all that’s left is to wait for the next snowfall!
